Trucker Killed, Family of 3 Teeter From Bridge – A Daring Rescue

Published:

A mother and her two children (including a 10-week-old infant) narrowly escaped the same tragic fate as the trucker involved in the same accident on the highways of California today.  Exact details of the accident haven’t yet been solidified, but the 36-year-old woman’s BMW can be seen in photographs teetering frighteningly close to falling off a 100 foot concrete bridge. In the embedded video, you can see rescue workers attempting to pull the woman and her children to safety. They had to use the jaws of life to effectively reach them.

The truck driver, hauling gravel, plunged over the bridge.  After the 100 foot fall, his rig caught fire and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

This terrible and tragic accident happened Thursday afternoon in the northbound lanes of U.S. Route 101 in Buellton, about 25 miles north of Santa Barbara.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of 48-year-old Charles Allison, the driver who lost his life in this terrible accident and also with the injured victims as they recover.  Watch the video to get the full story.
