Truckers, Lawmakers Square Off Over Tax Break

Arkansas Tax Break Repeal TruckingArkansas House Speaker Robert Moore said Tuesday he hoped a meeting with Republicans would jump-start the effort to repeal a $4 million tax break on commercial truck sales that’s hindering the state’s highway improvement plans.

Moore, D-Arkansas City, said Republican senators were holding up a vote to take up the repeal in that chamber. He wouldn’t say which Republicans he expected to meet with Tuesday.

Update: The Arkansas House voted on March 5th to delay vote on the decision until July 1st 2013.
