Trucking Company Involved In Fatal Crash Has History of Violations

Published:

A Vermont carrier is under fire following a December 19, 2012, 35-car pileup that left one dead and several others wounded.

A Jewell Transportation Inc. driver was involved in the crash on the Long Island Expressway. The truck caught on fire as it collided with several other vehicles.   According to MyFoxNewsNY, Jewell Transport has received 23 citations for unsafe driving in the last year, including another fatal crash in Upstate New York last July.

The crash on the Long Island Expressway took the life of 68-year-old Christa Zepf and left another driver critically injured.  Another 33 commuters were injured, as well.

Authorities have not said whether the Jewell Transportation driver was responsible for the crash and have not accused him of any charges, but say that they are working with attorneys from Jewell to piece together the events of the day.

Jewell Transport’s participation in the accident has placed the company’s safety record under the microscope.
