URGENT: Amber Alert Missing Child May Be With Registered Offender

UPDATE: Police have confirmed that they have found 5-year-old Abigail Berthoff alive.  The suspect, Jeffrey D. Shelton is in police custody. 

Police have reported the two were found in southern Butler County near the intersection Highway 67 and Highway 160.

Police are not releasing any information at this time.

“According to investigators, Abigail Berthoff, 5, was reported missing around 6:50 a.m. from her bedroom on the 2100 block of Wood Street early Wednesday morning and may be in the company of 46-year-old Jeffery Dean Shelton, of Poplar Bluff,” KAIT reported.

According to KATI, Poplar Bluff Police Captain Dave Sutton said Shelton is not related to the family.

Captain Sutton told KAIT that  Shelton was last seen leaving Wood Street with Abigail around 6:30 a.m.
