A Cook County, Illinois correctional officer is facing serious charges after he was caught on camera sucker punching an inmate who was being detained for a misdemeanor charge. Â
“Rico Palomino, 40, of Chicago, was charged with official misconduct, a Class 3 felony, for the incident on June 16 in the Inmate Receiving Area in Division 5 of the Cook County Jail, according to a release from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office,” ABC 7 News reported.
The inmate says the punch was unprovoked, and that he required several stitches as a result of the punch.
