A woman and her sister were caught shoplifting in an Ocala, Florida Walmart. As they were exiting the store, a loss-prevention worker stopped the women who were pushing a one-year-old in the shopping cart.
As the loss-prevention employee confronts the mother of the child, the mom takes off, leaving her baby behind in the cart. The woman’s sister also takes off. The two run to a van and drive away, leaving the baby at Walmart.
Police tracked the women down a day later. It turns out the mom took off because she was on probation and fearful of being sent to prison.
The baby is now in the state’s custody.
