Saturday Night Live aired this skit, featuring Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg singing “Motherlover.” The song was performed by The Lonely Island.
The two artists spent a sleepless week writing, recording and shooting before the skit aired. Adam Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer make up The Lonely Island and recorded the song along with Timberlake on the Tuesday before the short’s premiere.
After an all night recording session, Timberlake and Samberg spent 20 hours shooting the video. Schaffer began editing the footage early Saturday. The editing was completed within minutes of its broadcast debut for the live show.
