Gina Carano isn’t your average Hollywood starlet. She stars in Steven Soderbergh’s newest action thriller, “Haywire.” Soderbergh has created many Hollywood favorites of the last decade, including the cheeky heist comedies Oceans 11, 12 and 13, which is a more sophisticated remake of the Rat Pack original. He’s also made very serious films, most recently the plague apocalypse drama “Contagion” about a flu-like virus that succeeds in killing off nearly 2% of the world’s population in just months.
Carano is one of the most-winning mixed martial arts fighters in history. She absolutely dominates the women’s leagues, and logged an amazing 19 wins and only 2 losses during her entire career before her retirement in 2009. These days, she’s created a new career as an action star, using her brutal fighting skills to bust stunt guy bones on film.
In “Haywire,” Carano plays Mallory Kane, who is a highly trained operative who works for a government security contractor in the dirtiest, most dangerous corners of the world. After successfully freeing a Chinese journalist held hostage, she is double crossed and left for dead by someone close to her in her own agency.
Suddenly the target of skilled assassins who know her every move, Mallory must find the truth in order to stay alive.
This is the official trailer of the film which thrilled audiences over the winter. It will be available on DVD in mid-March. Have a look!
