Volvo Trucks will again ride to the nation’s capital during Memorial Day weekend as part of the Rolling Thunder® – Ride for Freedom rally.
You can find out more about participating in the Ride for Freedom rally at the Rolling Thunder Freedom Rally homepage. It’s a PDF document, so make sure you have a pdf reader application so you can read it. You can get a pdf file reader for android and iphone here.
The Rolling Thunder Ride and Rally culminates at the reflecting pool of the Korean War Memorial for a service, a speech, and then a musical tribute starring Nancy Sinatra.
The major function of Rolling Thunder is to publicize the POW-MIA issue: To educate the public that many American Prisoners of War were left behind after all previous wars. They also strive to help correct the past and to protect the future Veterans from being left behind should they become Prisoners Of War-Missing In Action. They are committed to helping American Veterans from all wars.
The graphics on this year’s truck focus on the emotions “ faith, hope and despair “ of a prisoner of war (POW). The custom design illustrates the comradery and brotherhood of POWs and is also a way to recognize the National League of POW Families. NRV developed the graphics for the Volvo VNL 670 in conjunction with UAW Local 2069’s Veteran Committee.
