Yesterday, Reliable Carriers, Inc., driver John P. Dutra was traveling north on I-65, when he turned on the air conditioner in his 2013 Volvo, he smelled something burning.  By the time he pulled the truck onto the shoulder of the road, the cab was completely engulfed in flames.

According to the Indiana State Police, Dutra sustained smoke inhalation and was transported to the hospital.

Interstate 65 at the 7 mile marker was shut down for 35 minutes while fire crews worked to extinguish the fire.

The fire did not reach the trailer.

There is no word on Dutra’s condition.
