Amazon Producing New Series Based on Zombie Movie

Published:

The horror-comedy movie hit “Zombieland” will soon be getting a small screen series that viewers can access through the popular Amazon Video On Demand service, the online retailer announced this week.

The 2009 film starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Bill Murray (as himself) took turns making viewers laugh and grossing them out, which prompted Amazon to option the material to begin competing with VOD service Netflix for original and exclusive content. Currently, Netflix offers three original series through their service – Arrested Development, House of Cards and Lillyhammer. While these offering are included for viewing in members’ subscriptions, the Zombieland series will be offered as a low-cost, per-download rental (most likely $.99 cents per 30 minute episode).

The series will feature the four original characters, while also introducing new people into the post-apocalyptic landscape.
