Bill Would Increase Florida’s Maximum Speed Limit

75 MPH Speed Limits Coming to Waco

Yesterday, two senators from Florida filed a bill that would increase the speed limit on select Florida highways to 75 miles per hour.

SB 392 was penned by Senators Jeff Brandes and Jeff Clemens.  The bill states that highways “outside an urban area of 5,000 or more persons and that have 4 lanes divided by a median strip” and are under the jurisdiction of the state’s Department of Transportation would be eligible for increased speed limits.

The bill will have to have approval from the state’s Legislature and from governor Rick Scott.

If approved, the bill will go into effect on July 1, 2014.
