According to the Indiana Business Journal, Celadon has announced plans to build a $5.25 million driver-training center. The company also plans to hire nearly 200 new employees.
“In return, the company is seeking a seven-year real property-tax abatement worth $205,494 and a personal property-tax abatement worth $7,000 from the city,” the Indiana Business Journal.
The Metropolitan Development Commission will review Celadon’s tax abatement proposal at an upcoming meeting and may reach a final decision by January 16.
Celadon has proposed to build a 60,000-square-foot facility, equipped with dorms for trainees.
This project comes in addition to Celadon’s 2011 plan to build a 36,000-square-foot, $3.4 million, office building.
Celadon currently employs more than 4,000 and is the countries largest carrier.
