Peterbilt 579The all-new 2013 Peterbilt 579 has it all– it’s aerodynamic, it’s fuel efficient, it’s safe and it has tons of integrated technology features

Peterbilt announced the addition of a mid-length configuration option to the 579 line-up.  The new, lightweight 117″ design offers excellent maneuverability and visibility while maintaining aerodynamic features.  The configuration is available for day cab and sleeper models.

“The Model 579 improves customers’ bottom lines through higher reliability, better fuel economy, increased driver retention, and enhanced resale value,” said Bill Kozek, Peterbilt general manager and PACCAR vice president. “The new mid-length BBC Model 579 configuration offers additional weight reduction and performance advantages with the standard PACCAR MX-13 engine as the perfect powertrain complement. This combination of performance attributes optimizes the vehicle for weight sensitive customers, such as regional and bulk haul applications.”

The 117” BBC hood features a sloped, 3-piece design for durable, low-cost repair and features the signature stainless steel Peterbilt grille and chromed surround.

In addition, the 579’s panoramic-style windshield, offers exceptional forward visibility.

“The turning radius and the ride and handling characteristics of the 117” BBC Model 579 provide increased efficiency and performance,” said Landon Sproull, Peterbilt Chief Engineer. “It is a truly flexible platform that is comfortable and efficient on the road, yet durable and effective in the most demanding markets.”

The 117-inch BBC Model 579 will be available with the 2013 PACCAR MX-13 engine June 2013.
