Country Star David Allan Coe Injured In Crash With Truck

Published:

An overnight accident in Ocala, Florida sent  country music star David Allan Coe and two truck drivers to the hospital.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., country music star David Allan Coe was traveling east on Silver Springs Blvd in a 2011 Suburban. Truck driver Robert Johnson, 59, and his passenger, Lisa Meade, 49, were traveling north on Pine Avenue in a Peterbilt hauling radishes and corn. Both vehicles were approaching the intersection of Pine and Silver Springs Blvd.

According to Ocala.com, the Peterbilt had the green light and Coe had a red light but he did not stop.  As Coe’s SUV went through the intersection, the Peterbilt struck the SUV on the passenger side.

The impact of the crash pushed the SVU into a parking lot and flipped over the truck.

Coe, who was wearing a seatbelt, was extricated from the vehicle and was taken to the hospital.  Coe’s manager confirms he’s doing OK at this time.

Johnson and Meade were also taken to a local hospital.  Johnson is listed in stable condition and Meade was treated and released.
