Crete, Shaffer Given the OK To Provide OTJ Training To Vets

According to a press release from Crete Carrier Corporation, the Department of Veteran’s Affairs has given their approval to for the carrier and its subsidiary, Shaffer Trucking, to provide on-the-job training to veterans and other eligible persons.  In addition, the 12-month program will provide approved veterans access to GI Bill benefits.

Crete Driver Development Manager Isaac Phillips said with this program in place, service members who are transitioning back into civilian life will receive not only truck training, they may be eligible to receive additional compensation from their GI Bill.

“This program, along with the Patriot Fleet, are two ways Crete and Shaffer are giving back and supporting the men and women that served this country,” stated Issac.

“As a company, we are very excited to announce the approval of this program. We are all very proud of our men and women who have served,”says Tim Aschoff, COO of Crete Carrier, “and this program is just one way we can help honor our country’s veterans by providing them opportunities to transition back to civilian life.”

Earlier this year, Crete added 5 new trucks to its Patriot Fleet, doubling the total number of honorary trucks.

Patriot Fleet trucks are black International ProStar tractors with wraps that pay tribute to the U.S. Armed Forces.  All Patriot Fleet trucks feature customized dog tags listing the drivers’ military branches, years served, and miles with Crete.
