Driver And His Dog Escape Crash Into Icy Lake

This commercial truck driver and his dog were luckily able to escape without serious injuries after this scary plunge into an Oregon lake!


According to authorities, the accident occurred on Tuesday morning at approximately 6:41 a.m..

The driver was identified as 73-year-old Carl Hansen.

Oregon State Police stated that Hansen was headed eastbound down Highway 140W near Klamath Falls at the time of the accident. His semi suddenly went off the highway and into the Upper Klamath Lake.

The rig broke through the ice, partially submerging the tractor-trailer.

Hansen climbed out the passenger window, and made his way across the ice to the shoreline. He was taken to a nearby hospital for a quick look over as soon as emergency responders arrived.

Hansen’s dog was spotted shortly after by rescuers who were able to call him back from running on the ice.

The cause of the accident is currently undetermined, and ODOT is in the process of coordinating the removal of the rig from the lake.

The trailer was empty at the time of the accident.
