Driver Involved In Crash That Killed 5 Teens Dies Of Injuries

The truck driver involved in a wreck that killed five teens in March has died as a result of his injuries.

In March, a crash between a truck and a car claimed the lives of five teens.

The crash occurred on Sunday, March 10, at the intersection of Morton Elevator Road and Farm-To-Market road 1284 near Dumas, Texas, when an SUV driven by 16-year-old Jacob Paul Stipe ran a stop sign.  The SUV was struck on the passenger side by a tanker driven by Ezequiel Garcia.

The tanker erupted into flames.  Garcia sustained burns to 65% of his body.  He remained in the burn unit at University Medical Center in Lubbock.  This morning, he succumbed to his injuries.

Sadly, the car’s occupants: Jacob Paul Stipe, 16, Derrek Lee Hager, 17, Christopher Lee Moore, 17, October Dawn Roys, 17, and her sister, Elizabeth Kay Roys, 15, all died at the scene.
