Executive Director Pat Foye said in a statement, “The Port Authority promised to take a hard-line against those who are cheating the system and filing these new lawsuits is further proof that we intend to live up to our word. We will use every resource necessary to collect the money that these violators owe to the Authority.”
“The Port Authority is owed staggering sums of money by these toll violators, and we intend to collect every dime,” Deputy Executive Director Bill Baroni added.
On Monday morning, Port Authority police caught up with and arrested an alleged proflific toll dodger.
Police say 34-year-old truck driver Marcus Tifa of Queens, New York, drove his truck in the eastbound cash lane of the George Washington Bridge, headed to New York, just before 8:00 a.m., and did not pay the toll.
According to New Jersey.com, Tifa attempted to hide his license plates.
Once Tifa was arrested, police learned he owed $28,000 in unpaid tolls.
