Driver With Stolen Trailer Caught…By Low Overpass

Published:

Caught or Trapped?A driver hauling a stolen trailer was caught by police, but not in the traditional sense.

On Wednesday morning, 54-year-old driver Rudolf Fokumlah was pulling a stolen trailer along North Main Street in Jamestown, New York.  Fokumlah attempted to pass under a 12′ bridge with a 13′ trailer.  The trailer became wedged under the bridge.

When police arrived, they learned the trailer was stolen from Irving, Texas, two weeks ago, WIVB reported.  They also learned that Fokumlah was driving on a suspended license.

Police arrested Fokumlah  and charged him with 3rd degree criminal possession of stolen property, failure to obey a traffic control device, operating an unregistered vehicle, 3rd degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to obtain a NYS tax permit.

Fokumlah is being held in the city jail pending his arraignment.

There is no information about whether or not Fokumlah knew he was in possession of a stolen trailer.
