A driver hauling a stolen trailer was caught by police, but not in the traditional sense.
On Wednesday morning, 54-year-old driver Rudolf Fokumlah was pulling a stolen trailer along North Main Street in Jamestown, New York. Â Fokumlah attempted to pass under a 12′ bridge with a 13′ trailer. Â The trailer became wedged under the bridge.
When police arrived, they learned the trailer was stolen from Irving, Texas, two weeks ago, WIVB reported. Â They also learned that Fokumlah was driving on a suspended license.
Police arrested Fokumlah and charged him with 3rd degree criminal possession of stolen property, failure to obey a traffic control device, operating an unregistered vehicle, 3rd degree aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to obtain a NYS tax permit.
Fokumlah is being held in the city jail pending his arraignment.
There is no information about whether or not Fokumlah knew he was in possession of a stolen trailer.
