A heartbroken South Florida family is still waiting for answers regarding a hit-and-run accident which has left one of their dear loved ones in a coma.

Matthew Scott Danchak, the thirty-four-year old who still remains in a medically-induced coma was struck last week by a white tractor trailer last Friday on the Sawgrass Expressway. He was driving a blue Hyundai, and had just been involved in an auto accident with a vehicle unrelated to the incident. Danchak and the driver in the other vehicle both stepped out to make sure one another were alright when the truck struck Danchak and kept driving.

Danchak was airlifted to Broward Health North, and his chances of recovery remain uncertain.

His family is still hoping for the driver, or anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, pieces of the truck’s bumper and a mirror were recovered from the scene. There is a good chance that the white semi truck involved is missing a mirror and has some front-end damage.

If you have any information regarding the hit-and-run accident call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Callers have the option to remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
