Florida Bus Driver Caught Texting While Driving

Published:

A Hillsborough County, Florida bus driver has recently been suspended after a 14-year-old passenger captured footage of her texting while driving.

At the time of the incident, the driver had been transporting a bus full of middle schoolers. The girl who shot the video mentioned that it appeared as though the bus driver was using her knee to steer – at times drifting out of her lane. The 14-year-old showed the video to her mother, who in turn reported the incident to the school.

Florida does not currently have a law against texting while driving. However, a law will go into effect on October 1st. This new law will not contain an exemption for bus drivers.

She has been suspended, pending an investigation.
