FMCSA Puts The Brakes On Montana Bus Company

FMCSA Wastes No Time In Promise To Shutdown Unsafe CarriersYesterday, the FMCSA announced it has placed Billings, Montana, passenger carrier Rimrock Stages out of service, ordering the company to immediately cease operations.

On March 19, 2013, the FMCSA issued a compliance review of Rimrock Stages and inspected 8 of its vehicles.  Of the 8 vehicles the FMCSA investigators inspected, 79 violations were found and 33 of those violations were so severe that they individually required the vehicles be placed out of service.

Investigators found that Rimrock Stages does not have adequately trained maintenance staff .  “FMCSA also found that Rimrock Stages failed to repair its commercial motor vehicles in a competent manner, failed to ensure that its mechanics are knowledgeable and qualified, failed to ensure that its commercial motor vehicles meet minimum safety standards and knowingly dispatched vehicles with safety defects,” the press release states.

“FMCSA will continue to do everything within its current legal authority to remove unsafe operators from our roads,” said FMCSA Administrator Anne S. Ferro. “Our agency is committed to raising the bar for commercial vehicle and driver safety.”
