By now you’ve probably heard about the truck driver protest that’s been planned for this weekend. These protestors are planning to occupy Washington D.C.’s Capital Beltway (I-495) from Friday through Sunday (October 11th-13th).

Drivers are planning to take up three lanes traveling at 55 miles per hour, preventing vehicles without “T2SDA” (Truckers To Shut Down America) from entering the beltway – only leaving the left lane open for emergency vehicles.

FreightWatch International has released an official recommendation to delay non-essential shipments until after the weekend’s possible protest. FreightWatch is also recommending that shipments that are essential be routed to avoid I-495 if possible – due to the possible severity of delays. Shipments containing freight high in value should be wary of possible criminal activity.
