Hot Chocolate For Your Health

Published:

shutterstock_98978015Cacao is known for its many health benefits – could hot chocolate be the perfect healthy solution to satisfy a sweet tooth?

Chocolate is most healthy when consumed raw. Raw Cacao is chocolate in its least processed form – and should not be confused with cocoa (cacao in it’s roasted form with added sugar and fat).

A single tablespoon of cacao contains only 5 calories, and it’s packed with nutrients. Cacao is high in fiber, antioxidants, B vitamins, iron protein, calcium, copper, magnesium, zinc, and phosphorous. Some of the benefits of these nutrients include preventing damage to cells by free radicals linked to cancer and heart disease. Antioxidants also reduce blood pressure, cholesterol, and improve blood flow.

It also produces endorphins and serotonin which are great mood boosters and stress relievers!

Try mixing a little raw cacao into water or adding it to hot chocolate!

Not in the mood for a hot drink? – Try adding cacao into a smoothie!
