I-40 Near Moriarty, New Mexico Closed Due To Chain Reaction Crash

I-40 near Moriarty, New Mexico is currently closed due to a fatal chain reaction crash. One person has been killed, and three more seriously injured – including a pregnant woman and her children who were heading to the hospital to give birth. – She and her children were airlifted from the scene.

According to the sheriff, a bus full of children from a church, slowed down in order to turn around, which caused two other cars to crash. Five more individuals and a child were transported by ambulance to a hospital. None of the bus passengers were injured.

In the midst of the chaos, another accident occurred in the backed up traffic. – A semi was rear-ended, killing the individual in the car which rear-ended the rig.

I-40 is expected to remain closed for a long duration of time, authorities are asking drivers to seek alternate routes.
