The Maine Senate has passed a bill that will allow the state’s transportation Commissioner to raise the speed limit on interstate highways to 75 mph.
Before the speed limits will be increased, the state’s Department of Transportation will have to evaluate whether or not the highway can safely sustain such speeds.
The bill has now moved to the desk of Governor Paul LePage for final approval.
