Sometimes it’s hard to find fresh from the farm fruits and vegetables on the road. Â This summer, Massachusetts rest areas will host farmer’s markets, featuring fresh fruits and vegetables from the area.
Beginning this Friday at 10:00 a.m., the Beverly rest area on Route 128 will hold it’s first farmer’s market.
In all, 18 rest areas will be hosing the farmer’s markets. Â 11 will be held along the Massachusetts Turnpike and seven others will be spread out across the state.
More than 100 Massachusetts farmers were invited to sell their goods at the markets. Â MassDOT will set up “on-the-road” promotions of the markets on highway message boards.
