A new Michigan law banning teen drivers from using their cell phones while driving goes into effect on Thursday, March 28, 2013.
The law, known as “Kelsey’s Law,” is named for Kelsey Raffaele, a 17-year-old Michigan resident who died in an accident while taking on her cell phone.
On January 8, 2013, Gov. Rick Snyder signed Kelsey’s Law, which restricts teenage drivers with a Level 1 or 2 license from using cell phones while driving.
Statistics show that teen drivers are more likely to be involved in cell phone-related crashes than older, more experienced drivers.
