According to MoDot’s Motor Carrier Facebook page, the aging Halltown rest area, located at mile marker 50 on Interstate 44 west, will close on May 29. The rest area will reopen by Labor Day as a truck parking facility. The rest area will feature self-contained vaulted toilets.
While the facility is closed, MoDOT recommends drivers park at the following rest areas:
EB at MM2 (Joplin),
EB at MM 89 (Strafford),
WB and EB at MM 110 (Conway) or
at truck plazas in between.
