If you’re a fan of the NFL, it probably seems like the football season just started. But, here we are, five months into the season. Both the Wild Card and Divisional rounds of the NFL playoffs are complete, leaving four remaining teams in the hunt to win Super Bowl XLVII.
Before we discuss this weekend’s excellent pair of match ups, let’s take a quick look back at the first two rounds of the playoffs for a refresher on how the teams were narrowed to four.
AFC Wild Card Round
Cincinnati Bengals – 13 at Houston Texans – 19
Indianapolis Colts – 9 at Baltimore Ravens – 24
AFC Divisional Round
Baltimore Ravens – 38 at Denver Broncos – 35
Houston Texans – 28 at New England Patriots – 41
NFC Wild Card Round
Minnesota Vikings – 10 at Green Bay Packers – 24
Seattle Seahawks – 24 at Washington Redskins – 14
NFC Divisional Round
Green Bay Packers – 31 at San Francisco 49ers – 45
Seattle Seahawks – 28 at Atlanta Falcons – 30
This weekend, the AFC and NFC Championship games will determine which two teams will battle it out in the Super Bowl in New Orleans, La. Both games will be played on Sunday.
AFC Championship Game – Sunday, 6:30 ET on CBS
Baltimore Ravens at New England Patriots
In what could be his last NFL game, Ray Lewis plans to bring his electrifying intensity and stingy Ravens defense to Gillette Stadium in hopes to stun the New England Patriots, led by 3-time Super Bowl champion, quarterback Tom Brady. The Patriots’ defense has been a little shaky this year and the Ravens offense, after its impressive performance against the Broncos last weekend, will look to capitalize on that weakness.
NFC Championship Game – Sunday, 3:00 ET on FOX
San Francisco 49ers at Atlanta Falcons
The 49ers, with second-year quarterback Collin Kaepernick, have been on quite a roll. The quarterback led the 49ers to a victory last week over Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers with 263 yards passing, 181 yards rushing, and four total touchdowns. But, the Falcons have their own young gun slinger in Matt Ryan, who had a career-best 32 touchdowns this year.
If all goes well, we should be in for a pair of exciting games on Sunday which will determine who will go head-to-head in Super Bowl XLVII.
Which teams do you hope win this weekend? What do you think would make the best Super Bowl matchup?
