“Wray, testifying about Ohio’s next two-year transportation budget, told senators Wednesday morning that the added weight is a “good idea” and did not raise safety issues,” the Plain Dealer reported.
Wray says the department would have to take a look at which roads and bridges could bear the additional weight. He added that local roads would not be affected.
While the increased weight limits might be good for some businesses, many argue that raising the weight limit is a bad idea. Safety groups, OOIDA and truck drivers have spoken about against increasing weight limits, saying the added weight would cause more wear and tear on the roads and bridges and would cost drivers more for maintenance.
