Pennsylvania Truck Inspection Blitz Places 106 Trucks, 71 Drivers OOS

Truck Inspection BlitzA one-day truck inspection campaign in Pennsylvania by the Pennsylvania State Patrol resulted in 106 trucks and 71 drivers being placed out-of-service.

The one-day enforcement effort was called Operation Seat Belt and Fatigue Enforcement (SAFE). The enforcement focused on seat-belt use, vehicle inspections and HOS records.”

“During the operation, state police motor carrier enforcement personnel focused their attention on seat-belt use by truckers and an examination of commercial driver’s licenses, vehicle inspection reports, hours of service logs and other required documentation,” State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan said.

Additionally, more than 1,500 trucks were inspected across the state: 703 tickets and 1,072 written warnings were issued.  Nearly half– 47%– of the day’s truck inspections resulted in the discovery of at least one violation.  One hundred seat-belt tickets were issued.

According to a the Pennsylvania State Police, the following is a breakdown of citations/warnings issued by state police during the one-day program conducted statewide on April 9:

  • Troop A (Cambria, Indiana, Somerset and Westmoreland Counties):  89 inspections; 15 vehicles out of service; no drivers placed out of service; 28 citations; 75 warnings.
  • Troop B (Allegheny, Fayette, Greene and Washington Counties):  125 inspections; 11 vehicles out of service; four drivers out of service; 34 citations; 81 warnings.
  • Troop C (Clarion, Clearfield, Forest, Elk, Jefferson and McKean Counties):  143 inspections; nine vehicles out of service; three drivers out of service; 33 citations; 101 warnings.
  • Troop D (Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer Counties):  85 inspections; two vehicles out of service; no drivers placed out of service; 20 citations; 11 warnings.
  • Troop E (Crawford, Erie, Venango and Warren Counties):  89 inspections; 18 vehicles out of service; seven drivers out of service; 32 citations; 64 warnings.
  • Troop F (Cameron, Clinton, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Potter, Snyder, Union and Tioga Counties):  186 vehicles inspected; 10 vehicles out of service; seven drivers out of service; 72 citations; 60 warnings.
  • Troop G (Bedford, Blair, Centre, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata and Mifflin Counties): 157 inspections; 10 vehicles out of service; four drivers out of service; 49 citations; 144 warnings.
  • Troop H (Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Perry and York Counties):  57 inspections; five vehicles out of service; two drivers out of service; 36 citations; 54 warnings.
  • Troop J (Chester and Lancaster Counties):  76 inspections; two vehicles out of service; three drivers out of service; 61 citations; 38 warnings.
  • Troop K (Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties):  91 inspections; six vehicles out of service; five drivers out of service; 68 citations; 95 warnings
  • Troop L (Berks, Lebanon and Schuylkill Counties):  38 inspections; one vehicle out of service; three drivers out of service; 19 citations; 50 warnings.
  • Troop M (Bucks, Lehigh and Northampton Counties):  60 inspections; five vehicles out of service; four drivers out of service; 34 citations; 40 warnings.
  • Troop N (Carbon, Columbia, Monroe and part of Luzerne Counties):  39 inspections; four vehicles out of service; six drivers out of service; 35 citations; 14 warnings.
  • Troop P (Bradford, Sullivan, Wyoming and part of Luzerne Counties):  40 inspections; one vehicle out of service; no drivers placed out of service; 10 citations; 21 warnings.
  • Troop R (Lackawanna, Pike, Susquehanna and Wayne Counties):  88 inspections; seven vehicles out of service; seven drivers out of service; 29 citations; 55 warnings.
  • Troop T (Pennsylvania Turnpike), 157 inspections; 13 vehicles out of service; 16 drivers out of service; 143 citations; 169 warnings.
