German police have arrested a truck driver believed by authorities to be responsible for over 700 shootings on the country’s highways for over five years.
Beginning in 2008, the 57-year-old man, whose name has not been released, fired shots at trucks loaded with cars, other vehicles, and buildings. In one of the shootings, a woman driving a car was injured. Last November, authorities increased the reward for information about the man to $131,000.
On Monday, the man was arrested in Western Germany and was taken before a judge. He will be held in custody pending formal charges.
