Schneider Closes San Antonio Sand-Hauling Business

Published:

According to the San Antonio Business Journal, Schneider National is shutting the doors on its sand hauling business in San Antonio, Texas.

Schneider notified the Texas Workforce Commission of the company’s plan to cut 76 jobs, the Business Journal reported.

“Like all companies, Schneider National’s business is heavily influenced by demand in the marketplace,” Schneider spokeswoman Janet Bonkowski said in an emailed statement to the San Antonio Business Journal. “Earlier this year, we decided that the opportunities in the (sand) portion of our energy transportation business are not as strong as anticipated and ceased offering transportation services to this market.

Bonkowski added that the employees have been given the opportunity to relocate.
