On Monday, the Truckload Carriers Association announced the winners of the Stoney “Reese” Stubbs scholarship.
Twenty-five students will receive a scholarship from the TCA for the upcoming year. A grand total of $75,000 will be awarded to the 25 students. The scholarships range from $2,725 to $6,250.
In order to be awarded the scholarship, students must be entering or currently enrolled full-time and in good standing at a 4-year college or university. The student must also be associated with a TCA member company as an employee, independent contractor, or the child, grandchild or spouse of an employee or independent contractor.
In addition, the student must show the financial need, scholastic achievement, integrity and character.
“Since 1973, our scholarship program has been a source of tremendous pride for TCA and our member companies,” said Josh Kaburick, chairman of TCA’s Scholarship Fund and the COO of Earl L. Henderson Trucking Company in Salem, Illinois. “The people who work in the trucking industry already work hard – very hard. By underwriting some of the financial burden for these individuals, we are happy to be reducing stress for families who already sacrifice to move North America’s freight.”
