TexasAccording to the Austin American Statesman, the Texas Department of Transportation is taking a second look at plans to toll Texas 71 near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to the Texas 130 toll road.

The 2-mile-long project would take two years to complete and would cost and estimated 140 million, though a portion of the funding would come from money generated by the Texas 130 toll road.

TxDOT executive director Phil Wilson told the American-Statesman that the plan will include  free-to-drive frontage roads with three lanes in each direction.

“Construction of toll lanes on Texas 71 between U.S. 183 and Texas 130 had been on local transportation plans during the 2000s, but were dropped when TxDOT’s finances tightened,”  the American-Statesman reported.
