Toll Trolls: Drivers Take Risks to Dodge Tollbooths

4. Call It What You Want

Creative Toll Booth Payment-01

He calls it a prank, you can call it what you like. Josh Hargrave, a blogger for ZUG claims to have found a way around tolls in Boston, Massachusets. In his article entitled, The Turnpike Prank Josh experiments a little with his local tollbooth. It all started when he decided to short-change the booth’s money basket by three cents, paying 97 cents instead of $1.00. After realizing that there were no immediate consequences, he tossed seven cents into the basket short-changing the toll booth by 93 cents this time. Josh also branched out and experimented in a few different avenues that didn’t entail any sort of financial exchange. First, he decided to leave a $1.00 I.O.U. signed, “Mariah Carey,” followed by two 50 Cent stickers (which sort of equals $1.00 in a roundabout way), and lastly two oranges. Although he did pay both the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority and Mariah Carey back with interest, we still feel bad for the poor soul that had to scrape the remains of those oranges out the toll booth basket.
