At 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday a Wichita tow truck driver was killed in a hit and run accident.

The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Scott Christopher Burton.

Burton was securing a Village Tours bus that had broken down west of Stafford when he was struck by an oncoming car – which left the scene of the accident.

Burton was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to witnesses a maroon Oldsmobile was stopped and had it’s flashers on – but took off when they (the witnesses) came up on the scene. The witness was unable to record a tag number.

A second witness reported that they had followed a westbound white car which was driving erratically on Highway 50 (away from the accident). These witnesses were also unable to get a tag number.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help to track down the driver of the car that struck him.

Anyone who has information regarding the accident is being asked to contact the Highway Patrol and 316.744.0451.
