At 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday a Wichita tow truck driver was killed in a hit and run accident.
The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Scott Christopher Burton.
Burton was securing a Village Tours bus that had broken down west of Stafford when he was struck by an oncoming car – which left the scene of the accident.
Burton was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to witnesses a maroon Oldsmobile was stopped and had it’s flashers on – but took off when they (the witnesses) came up on the scene. The witness was unable to record a tag number.
A second witness reported that they had followed a westbound white car which was driving erratically on Highway 50 (away from the accident). These witnesses were also unable to get a tag number.
The Kansas Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help to track down the driver of the car that struck him.
