Truck Driver Arrested For Connecticut I-95 Crash

Published:

An early Friday morning truck crash shut down a stretch of I-95 South, , between exits 70 and 71, in Old Lyme, Connecticut for hours.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:00 a.m. The highway was shut down until 11:20 a.m.

When police arrived, the truck was engulfed in flames.

According to NBC Connecticut, approximately 200 gallons of diesel fuel spilled across the highway.  The fuel had to be cleaned up before the highway could be reopened.

After investigators reviewed the crash scene and interviewed the driver, Myron Hawkins, they determined Hawkins was driving recklessly, though police have not released any other details about the crash.

Hawkins was arrested and taken to jail.  He was unable to post bond.
