Truck Driver Cited After Two Fatalities Near Bonnaroo Music & Arts FestivalOn June 12, two people were killed and five injured while on their way to Manchester, Tenn., where they planned to attend the annual music and arts festival Bonnaroo. The eight-vehicle crash occurred along I-24 in Murfreesboro, Tenn., less than one hour from the festival grounds.

The fatalities happened when a semi was unable to stop in time, just after a previous minor accident took place. Among the vehicles the truck hit was another semi, which caused both to overturn.

Two cars caught on fire after the collision, and the passengers in one of the vehicles were able to make it out alive, while two passengers in another perished after the car exploded. Authorities said the responders didn’t have enough time to put out the fire in the second flaming vehicle.

The driver of the truck that caused the crash was cited with failure to exercise due care, with additional charges pending.
