Truck Driver Fatally Shot In Oklahoma

Published:

A Papa Johns delivery truck driver was fatally shot Saturday morning while making a delivery to a Tulsa, Oklahoma Papa John’s location at 11th Street and Delaware Avenue.

According to NewsOn6, 53-year-old Robert Horton and his co-worker arrived at the location to deliver pizza dough.  The coworker went into the restaurant while Horton remained in the truck. Police believe that Horton was approached by as many as three suspects.

The co-worker says he heard a scuffle, like the sound of falling trays.  The co-worker went outside and found Horton lying on the ground.  He had been shot twice.

“We are assuming this was a robbery attempt that went wrong,” TPD Sergeant Dave Walker said in a news release. “There is no indication that any property is missing and we have yet to find any witness to the shooting.”

The co-worker began administering CPR.  According to NewsOn6, the co-worker originally thought Horton suffered a heart attack.

Horton was transported to  St. John Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Horton leaves behind a wife, 2 children and 6 grandchildren.

Police are asking witnesses to call 918-596-COPS. Police released a surveillance photo of what they believe to be a dark-colored Ford Escape that was in the area at the time of the shooting.
