Truck Driver Killed In Crash Veered To Avoid Hitting Car

A truck driver sacrificed his life to potentially save the life of a motorists who had gotten into his lane.

On Tuesday, at approximately 11:30 a.m., 52-year-old truck driver Reginald D. Porch was traveling north along Interstate 35 in Austin, Texas, when a 1996 blue Ford Taurus suddenly got into the his lane lane, the Austin Statesman reported.

Porch veered out of the lane to avoid hitting the car and struck a concrete bridge pillar.  Porch was ejected from the truck and the truck burst into flames.

Sadly, Porch died at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing. Police have not released a suspect’s name or description.   If you have any information about this crash, you are urged to contact the Austin Police Department at (512) 974-5312.
