Truck Driver Shot Multiple Times At South Carolina Truck Stop

Published:

A 54-year-old truck driver, husband, father and grandfather remains in critical condition a week after being shot multiple times at an Aiken, South Carolina truck stop.

The driver, whose name is not being released, stopped at Kents Korner, at exit 18, and was standing outside of his truck, when he was approached by a man demanding cash.

An altercation followed, and the man shot the driver multiple times.

“He shot my husband and my husband threw the coffee on him and then he shot my husband twice,” the driver’s wife told WRDW.

The man did not get any money from the driver and ran away from the scene.

The driver was transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds to the arm, chest and stomach.  A bullet remains lodged in his spine.

There were no cameras in the area where the driver was shot and the suspect description is vague.  The suspect is described as a 20-something black male.  5’8″ to 5’10”, weighing approximately 135-150 pounds, with shoulder-length dreadlocks.  He was wearing a white t-shirt and cut-off  jeans.

If you have any information about this crime, you’re asked to call the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at (800) 922-3211.
