Truck Driver Songs: Golden Earring “Radar Love”

Published:

We’re back with another version of our long-running series Truck Driver Songs. Here we look at musical takes on the life and times of the North American truck driver.

This week, it’s one of the big hits of the 80s that recreates a long drive home to see that special someone while avoiding traffic pitfalls and fatigue.

Golden Earring was the consummate One Hit Wonder of 80s AOR rock. They had a great vibe, a lot of appeal and they loved to play long, driving songs that were a balance of road house, glam and progressive rock.

They came to American shores from Holland during the big expansion of international rock acts shepherded by MTV as a major player. These moves brought many other classic and progressive rock stalwarts like The Scorpions, Duran Duran, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard and Queen. While most went on to extended successful careers in video music and tours, Golden Earring faded back into obscurity, leaving only Radar Love as their lasting musical legacy.

So with no more further ado, enjoy truck drivers!
