Truck Drivers Falls To His Death While Tarping His Load

Tarping DeathOn Tuesday, 48-year-old truck driver John B. Johnson III fell off his truck when he was tarping his load.

Johnson picked up a load of lumber at Emporium Hardwoods on Route 120, near Shippen Township, PA.  At approximately 1:55 p.m., Johnson pulled into an empty lot to tarp his load.  While making adjustments to the tarp, Johnson slipped and  fell from atop the load.

He sustained fatal injuries.

According to the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries, there are an estimated 25 fall-related deaths in the trucking industry each year.
