Truck With Load Of Fruit Stolen From Truck Stop

Truck and Trailer Stolen

According to the Greenfield, Massachusetts Recorder, a truck driver parked his truck at the F.L. Roberts truck stop plaza off Routes 5 and 10 in Whately, Massachusetts.

The driver left with a friend.  When he returned to the truck stop later that night, his truck was gone.

Authorities believe the truck was stolen sometime between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Whately Police Chief James A. Sevigne Jr., told the Recorder that the driver made things easy for the criminal(s)– he left the doors unlocked and left the keys in the ignition.

“That’s the message we try to get out, any public safety forums that we have, lock your house, lock your cars; it’s a common thing these days, people are looking for the easy. Try the door, keys are in there, it makes it an easier target,” Sevigne said.

The truck was loaded with produce.

The truck is red with Illinois plate number P749323 and a white trailer, plate number 170P151. The trailer is not marked, but the cab has the name of Illinois-based carrier Euro Kam.  No other information about the truck has been released.

If you believe you have seen the truck or trailer, you’re asked to call 413-625-8200.
