On Sunday, at least 13 people were injured when Grand Prix driver Dario Franchitti lost control of his car, hit the wall and went airborne during the last lap of the IndyCar Grand Prix race in Houston.
Debris from Franchitti’s car cleared the wall and peppered the crowd. Thirteen spectators were injured and two were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Franchetti also sustained serious injuries. He suffered two broken vertebrae, a fractured right ankle and a concussion.
