Video: Australian Pioneer Women Truckers

Published:

There aren’t many professional women truck drivers in North America. There are even less in Australia. Yet, if you look hard enough, you’ll see them driving the dangerous roads and lonely routes across the great Outback.

This is the story of one of Australia’s first women truck drivers, Toots Holzheimer. She’s a mother of eight, a grandmother of two and drives some pretty incredible routes as if it’s no big deal.

Toots chose the trucking lifestyle after she found that home life just wasn’t satisfying enough after her kids became older and independent. She would rather spend her days fighting the heat and rain instead of staying home fighting boredom.

This is her story.
