VIDEO: Billions of Cicadas Emerging To Swarm East Coast In Coming Weeks

Get your earplugs ready, because literally billions of cicadas are about to crawl out of the earth along the East Coast.

These cicadas, buried for the past 17 years, will emerge this spring to mate, meaning incredibly loud chirping, comparable to the sound of the New York City subway or a rock concert.

The cicadas will shed their skin upon uprooting themselves, then spend around 4-6 weeks looking for mates. Cicadas are not considered dangerous to people or surrounding vegetation or farmland. But, they will probably bug you!
